TYSONS CORNER, VA, June 25, 2021 — Leanne Caret, president and CEO of Boeing’s (NYSE: BA) defense, space and security business, has dubbed the recent demonstration of the capability of a company-built unmanned aircraft system to perform an air-to-air fuel transfer mission as a “history-making event” and attributed the test completion to its team up with the U.S. Navy, ExecutiveBiz reported June 9.
Boeing used its MQ-25 T1 test asset to conduct aerial refueling with the Navy’s F/A-18 fighter jet. The drone is intended to replace the F/A-18 aircraft as the service branch’s fuel tanker.
“[The company-Navy team’s] work is the driving force behind the safe and secure integration of unmanned systems in the immediate future of defense operations,” Caret, a 2021 Wash100 awardee, said.
