Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson presented John Mengucci, president and CEO of CACI International, with his second consecutive Wash100 Award, the most prestigious and coveted award in all of government contracting (GovCon).
John Mengucci joined CACI as its chief operating officer and president of U.S. operations in 2012 and served in those roles until he was appointed as the company’s president and CEO in June 2019. Since then, Mengucci has been at the helm for the company the last two years. His growth strategy and leadership have led to the company’s exponential growth in the GovCon sector and overall federal landscape.
The Wash100 Award recognizes in advance the accomplishments of the most influential executives to the sector who are expected to make the most significant contributions in the year to come. For elite leaders of John Mengucci’s status, his impact to the GovCon industry has already been felt as we reach the halfway point of 2021.
As the company’s third-quarter came to an end on March 31st for its 2021 fiscal year, CACI reported $1.55 billion in revenue, which was a six percent increase from the previous year. The total third-quarter net income rose $49.4 percent year-over-year to $120.3 million and 60 percent of $1.6 billion in total single-award contract awards for the January-March period.
Mengucci commented that CACI’s focus and long-term strategy would involve product differentiation aimed at driving growth, deploying capital and creating value for shareholders. In addition, the company’s focus would also be to help its customers address their information technology modernization and national security missions.
CACI announced on April 8th that the company had been awarded a potential five-year, $700 million multiple-award Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide national security investigations as well as enterprise technology and support for the full range of case types for DHS.

A week later, CACI received a $376 million task order to help the Department of Agriculture migrate a web-based supply chain management system to cloud infrastructure, GovCon Wire reported. Mengucci expressed his excitement to help streamline the department’s logistics systems to support American farmers who continue to ensure our nation’s citizens are well fed.
More recently, CACI continues to assist federal agencies in their essential missions. On April 21st, the company announced it had been awarded a prime spot on the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Solutions for Information Technology Enterprise (SITE III) contract worth an overall $12.6 billion.
The company will provide strategic, technical and program management guidance and support services to facilitate the operations and modernization of the agency’s infrastructure, systems and applications.
“CACI provides proven and innovative technology and expertise for our customers’ enterprise missions and are proud to expand the work we provide to both the DIA and NGA,” Mengucci explained.
Most recently, Mengucci emphasized CACI’s mission to continue to support the National Security Agency’s (NSA) SIGINT, network management and cryptologic missions under a potential five-year, $447 million contract to help gather signals intelligence and protect government networks from cyber threats.
The work under the contract will include the development of technology intended to assist agency efforts in providing data for U.S. lawmakers and military officials to gain actionable cybersecurity insights.
