Dan Smoot, formerly chief operating officer at Riverbed, has been promoted to serve as the San Francisco-based networks and applications company’s president and CEO, responsible for driving its delivery of offerings to customers looking to transition to a hybrid work setup.
Smoot, who brings over three decades of industry experience to his new roles, most recently oversaw Riverbed’s teams for customer experience, sales operations and worldwide sales as COO, the company said Wednesday.
According to Smoot, Riverbed’s growth plans include delivery of end-to-end visibility and performance technologies to commercial and government customers that seek to modernize and secure their networks and to accelerate migrations to cloud and software as a service platforms.
He joined Riverbed in 2018 as chief customer officer and led the company’s efforts in the areas of customer success management, education, global support and professional services.
His career also includes work with VMware (NYSE: VMW), Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) and Salesforce (NYSE: CRM), where he served as an executive vice president.
Riverbed offers a platform designed to help customers visualize, augment and cybersecure networks.
