ST Engineering North America‘s marine business in Pascagoula, Mississippi, will build another vessel to support worldwide oceanographic survey operations of Military Sealift Command under a $149 million fixed-price-incentive contract modification.
Naval Sea Systems Command definitized a contract item for the design and construction of T-AGS 67, the next surveying vessel in the Pathfinder class, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Halter Marine delivered USNS Maury (T-AGS 66) to the U.S. Navy on Feb. 16, 2016.
Pathfinder-class ships are designed with multibeam sonars for ocean environment data-gathering work as part of the Military Sealift Command’s special mission program.
NAVSEA will obligate the full contract amount at the time of award using the branch’s fiscal 2018 shipbuilding and conversion funds.
Seventy-six percent of work will take place at a shipbuilding facility in Mississippi and the rest at various locations in Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Oregon.
