At his first Cabinet meeting, President Joe Biden named five department leaders to help the administration promote its $2.3 trillion investment plan to modernize infrastructure and create jobs nationwide, according to a new McAleese & Associates report.
Jim McAleese – founder of McAleese & Associates and three-time Wash100 winner — reported that President Biden assigned Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to spearhead the White House’s American Jobs Plan.
Biden emphasized during the meeting his administration’s commitment to “Buy American, the plan we’re putting forward to make sure that when the government is spending taxpayers’ money, that they’re spending it on American-made goods of American corporations and American employees.”
The McAleese report also highlighted U.S. labor market data showing that employers added 916,000 jobs in March and the unemployment rate was 6 percent last month, compared with the 6.2 percent recorded in February.
An independent analysis estimates that the American Jobs Plan will create 19 million jobs over an eight-year period, according to President Biden.
