Matthew Travis, former deputy director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, will serve as the first CEO of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body starting April 1.
CMMC-AB said Monday that Travis will lead day-to-day operations of CMMC-AB in line with the Department of Defense’s cybersecurity vetting program for the defense industrial base.
He served as deputy undersecretary of the National Protection and Programs Directorate before the Department of Homeland Security component became CISA in 2018, according to his official bio.
The former naval officer also worked as the White House’s liaison to the U.S. Navy secretary.
His private sector experience includes time at environmental consulting firm Cadmus as vice president for homeland security. Travis also established Washington, D.C.-based security consultancy Obisidian Analysis, which Cadmius acquired in 2016.
