Zscaler’s Stephen Kovac: Agencies Should Align Network Security With User, Data

TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 15, 2021 — Stephen Kovac, vice president of global government and head of corporate compliance at Zscaler (Nasdaq: ZS), said agencies need to develop a tailored approach for protecting and monitoring traffic as more government information technology users connect from devices beyond the network perimeter, ExecutiveBiz reported March 9.

In a March 8 commentary posted on FCW, Kovac wrote that the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Trusted Internet Connections 3.0 policy and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s zero trust guidance could help agencies establish trust zones intended to secure the network and its components.

“There is no one-size-fits all solution for agencies’ trust zones and zero trust solutions, but federal IT leaders should consider their trust zone size, quantity, categorization, composition, and communication to develop a customized security approach to meet their agency’s mission needs,” Kovac added.
