Gregory Nixon, chairman of Navistar Defense, has returned to private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management as head of strategic investments, senior legal counsel and senior managing director.
He will lead Cerberus’ efforts to identify new investment opportunities across the defense, technology and security markets, the New York City-based company said Friday.
Nixon previously served as chief administrative officer and chief legal officer at DynCorp International and held leadership positions at Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH), McKinsey & Co. and CH2M.
His government career includes time as special intellectual property counsel at the Department of Defense and judge advocate general officer at the U.S. Air Force, where he retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Nixon has also served as a board member at Sparton, a portfolio company of Cerberus, and an adjunct professor at Howard University Law School.
