DOE Releases Draft RFP for $26.5B Integrated Tank Disposition IDIQ

The Department of Energy has issued a draft solicitation notice for a potential 10-year, $26.5 billion contract to manage tank waste at the Hanford nuclear site in Washington state.

DOE said Thursday it will brief interested vendors about the Integrated Tank Disposition Contract at a pre-solicitation meeting that is scheduled to take place virtually from March 30 to April 1.

The department created the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity ITDC to replace its tank operations contract with Washington River Protection Solutions and include waste treatment and immobilization plant operations in the scope of work.

WRPS, a joint venture between Amentum and Atkins, currently manages Hanford tank farms under a 12-month, $725 million extension contract awarded in October.

ITDC will include functional support work such as project management, security and environment, safety, health and quality services.

The DOE Office of Environmental Management will use an “end-state contracting model” to evaluate bidders for the new contract based on criteria such as past performance, management approach, cost proposal and key personnel.
