Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) has secured a potential five-year, $146.3 million to help the U.S. Navy operate and maintain a relocatable over-the-horizon radar system that supports the U.S. government’s counter narco-terrorism operations.
The company’s intelligence and space business will perform ROTHR operation and maintenance work for the Forces Surveillance Support Center in Chesapeake, Virginia, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Naval Supply Systems Command received one offer for the non-commercial, cost-plus-award-fee contract that includes a face value of $28.9 million. DOD noted the Navy will provide $14.5 million in incremental funds during the one-year base performance period.
Raytheon helps the branch engineer the long-range air detection platform under a five-year, $87.7 million contract awarded in July 2019.
The ROTHR system was originally built to track ships and aircraft, the company noted.
