Thomas Moore, a 39-year U.S. Navy veteran and former head of Naval Sea Systems Command, has joined Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ (NYSE: HII) nuclear and environmental services business as vice president of nuclear operations.
The retired Navy vice admiral will oversee nuclear programs for the Department of Energy portfolio within HII’s technical solutions division, led by Andy Green, the company said Wednesday.
Green, two-time Wash100 Award recipient, said Moore brings leadership experience to the company’s team working with DOE and will support business growth efforts.
Moore led more than 83 personnel worldwide and a $50B annual budget as NAVFAC commander for four years before he retired from the military in August of last year.
His Navy career also includes time as program executive officer for aircraft carriers and as director of the branch’s fleet readiness division, OPNAV N43, where he was responsible for operation and maintenance planning work for naval ships, aircraft and submarines.
