An Ultra Electronics subsidiary will manufacture electro-acoustic towed torpedo countermeasure systems for the U.S. Navy under a potential six-year, $268.5M contract.
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division selected Ultra Electronics Ocean Systems for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity AN/SLQ-25E "Nixie" supply contract with a $186.4M base value after a competitive acquisition process that garnered two offers, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
DOD noted the service branch will obligate $2.2M in fiscal 2020 other procurement funds at the time of award and expects the company to finish work in December 2026.
The AN/SLQ-25E decoy technology is designed to use an underwater acoustic projector and lure hostile torpedoes away from naval ships.
