Kevin Plexico, senior vice president of information solutions at Deltek and a 2020 Wash100 Award recipient, predicts that the incoming administration’s budget priorities will create additional contracting opportunities in the technology and health care areas, Federal News Network reported Monday.
He said at a Nov. 17 webinar that President-elect Joe Biden vowed to sustain military funding and allocate more funds for emerging technology projects.
“We think this has a potential disruptive effect [if] we try to free up money in areas where we think it’s more traditional defense, and invest in areas that might be more leading technologies, such as unmanned systems, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence,” Plexico added, according to the publication.
The Deltek executive advised vendors to keep themselves abreast of the policy agenda in the next administration, which he expects to prioritize contract oversight for government spending transparency efforts.
He noted that although compliance requirements and program consolidation initiatives have affected prime contracting pursuits this year, those factors drove the formation of some industry partnerships to chase federal contracts.
