Potomac Officers Club’s “The DoD Journey to 5G: Where We Are, Where Do We Need to Be, and What’s Next” Panel will be moderated by Lance Spencer, client executive vice president with AT&T Public Sector.
The panel will feature Preston Dunlap, chief architect of the Department of the Air Force; Bong Gumahad, director of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance with the Office of the Under Secretary of Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)); and Schawn Branch, senior staff officer, OCIO, U.S. Army.
Preston Dunlap, U.S. Air Force
Preston Dunlap, chief architect of the Department of the Air Force, is the first person to hold this position. He is responsible for working across the Air and Space Force, and in partnership with the Department of the Navy and Army, to transform technology development and acquisition.
His efforts enable the Air Force to design, develop and buy the right mix of future capability, as well as advance with the power of interoperability. Key family of systems initiatives include Multi-domain Operations, Advanced Battle Management System, and Next Generation Air Dominance.
Prior to this position, Dunlap was the executive for National Security Analysis of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, the nation’s largest University Affiliated Research Center. He oversaw national security defense and intelligence programs at all levels of classification and managed program managers, technologists, analysts and operators.
Bong Gumahad: OUSD(A&S)
Bong Gumahad, director of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance with the Office of the Under Secretary of Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)).
In this position he is responsible for acquisition oversight of the Intelligence Community (IC) Major Systems Acquisition (MSAs). His portfolio includes MSAs of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), National Security Agency (NSA), and Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
His Department of Defense portfolio includes major communications, command and control systems to weapons platforms as well as related ground based intelligence processing, exploitation and dissemination systems.
