DOE Seeks Feedback on Moab Site Remediation Draft RFP

The Department of Energy has released a preliminary request for proposals for contractor services to remediate a uranium mill tailings site located in Moab, Utah.

Interested proposers can submit comments on the draft RFP for the Moab Remedial Action Contract through Nov. 2 and should only submit offers upon release of the final solicitation notice, DOE said Monday.

The department’s environmental management office intends to use an “end state contracting model” when selecting a prime contractor to address requirements for the site-remediation project.

The ESCM sourcing process evaluates bidders based on a set of criteria such as past performance, management approach and key personnel and allows the procuring agency to conduct open negotiations regarding post-award collaboration.

DOE estimates it will transfer 6 million tons of uranium mill tailings to a disposal site in Utah’s Crescent Junction over the next decade.
