Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) has named Michelle Sutphin as chief security officer to supervise compliance with SAIC’s security policies and programs supporting customers, the company announced Wednesday.
“Michelle brings a wealth of experience in the security field, and her in-depth knowledge and strong relationships in the community will be a tremendous asset for us and our customers moving forward,” said Mark Escobar, chief of business operations at SAIC. “We’re thrilled to welcome such a seasoned security expert to our team.”
Sutphin has more than two decades of experience across security. Prior to joining SAIC, she served as vice president of corporate security at BAE Systems. Sutphin was responsible for the creation, implementation and supervision of security policy.
She served as vice president of Security P&S and facility security officer with BAE Systems. Sutphin also held the position of director of Corporate Security with American Systems, as well as Facility Security Officer/HR Generalist III for Integic.
Sutphin currently serves as chair of the security and counterintelligence division at National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), where she promotes communication between government agencies and other industrial working groups.
In her position with NDIA, she advocates for the mission of the National Industrial Security Program. She also served two years as the industry spokesperson for the National Industrial Security Program Policy Advisory Committee and nearly five years as secretary for the Board of Directors at NCMS.
