Tom Jones, sector vice president and general manager of airborne sensors and networks division at Northrop Grumman’s (NYSE: NOC) mission systems sector, has been elected by the board of directors to serve as corporate VP and president of the company’s aeronautics systems business, effective Jan. 1.
He will succeed Janis Pamiljans, a 34-year company veteran who will continue to serve as corporate VP and help with the transition until his retirement on Feb. 26, Northrop said Tuesday.
“Tom has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead complex businesses in the aerospace and defense industry," said Kathy Warden, chairman, CEO and president of Northrop and a 2020 Wash100 awardee. “He is a seasoned executive and I am excited about the vision he has for our Aeronautics business.”
Jones is a three-decade aerospace and defense industry veteran. Prior to leading the airborne sensors and networks division, he led Northrop’s advanced technology and undersea systems businesses. He joined the company in 2011 from Boeing (NYSE: BA).
