The technical solutions division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) has combined its mission driven innovation solutions and fleet support groups to create the defense and federal solutions group as part of a realignment to achieve efficiencies in its support functions and better serve customers.
Garry Schwartz, former president of MDIS and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, will serve as president of the defense and federal solutions unit within the Technical Solutions division, HII said Tuesday.
He will be responsible for HII’s work in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; maritime fleet sustainment; enterprise information technology engineering and operations; logistics management; simulation and training; advanced modeling; and cyber operations.
“We look forward to leading the charge in changing how innovative solutions are provided to our government customers, particularly in the ISR and military simulation and training markets, while continuing to build on the legacy of over a century of cutting-edge naval shipbuilding and decades of fleet sustainment excellence,” said Schwartz.
The two other business groups operating within HII Technical Solutions are unmanned systems and nuclear and environmental services.
