Anil Cheriyan, formerly director of the General Services Administration’s Technology Transformation Services, will join Cognizant (Nasdaq: CTSH) on Aug. 3 to serve as executive vice president of strategy and technology, The Economic Times reported Monday.
He will directly report to Cognizant CEO Brian Humphries and oversee the company’s global information technology, business development, alliances, strategy and global security teams. He will be part of the executive council and help advance IT and security capabilities, digitization, resilience and strategic initiatives as Cognizant’s technology leader.
Cheriyan "accelerated the transformation of several federal agencies, leveraging industry-leading talent in AI, cloud, digital platforms, data and analytics, identity, and citizen experience,” said Humphries.
Cheriyan stepped down from his post as head of TTS and deputy commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service at GSA on July 17. He joined GSA in January 2019 from SunTrust Banks, where he served as an EVP and chief information officer.
