Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) has moved to expand its presence in the Huntsville, Ala., area through the establishment of an innovation center near the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal.
The company said Wednesday its new facility spans 6K square feet of reconfigurable space and accommodate engineering activities, employee collaboration efforts, demonstrations and customer meetings.
According to Booz Allen, it based the center's layout on customer requirements such as additive manufacturing and 3D printing systems.
Lincoln Hudson, a Booz Allen senior vice president and head of its Huntsville office, said the company seeks to enable engineers to be a business growth driver through its innovation center.
The investment comes eight months after the company won a potential five-year, $561M task order to help the U.S. Army maximize the physical and psychological performance of soldiers with technology.
The new center is scheduled to open in winter and will serve as the company’s second major office in the city, where it employs more than 200 workers.
