Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) has received a potential five-year, $60M contract to support the U.S. Navy’s on- and off-site testing activities for lightweight and heavyweight torpedoes.
The firm-fixed-price and cost-plus-fixed-fee contract covers a one-year base period plus four extension options, SAIC said Monday.
Under the agreement, SAIC will provide facility operations assistance as well as testing and analysis support for the torpedoes to be used for Naval Sea Systems Command missions.
Contract work also includes services such as maintenance work, assembly operations support, configuration management and technical assistance for the testing of torpedo systems and components.
Jim Scanlon, executive vice president and general manager of SAIC's defense systems group, said the company is looking forward to continuing its testing services for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in the coming years.
SAIC has supported the assessment of over 150 torpedoes at NUWC's propulsion test facility in Rhode Island for over 13 years, he noted.
