John Noseworthy, president and CEO emeritus at Rochester, Minn.-based nonprofit medical center Mayo Clinic, has been appointed to serve on Mitre’s board of trustees for a term of up to three years.
He will support Mitre in efforts to grow its involvement in health care and pandemic response initiatives such as the COVID-19 Healthcare Coalition, the nonprofit corporation said Tuesday.
From 2009 to 2019, Noseworthy led Mayo Clinic’s execution of care delivery strategies as its CEO. He previously held consultant and medical director roles at the hospital’s neurology and development departments.
He is also recognized as a medical expert in multiple sclerosis and has facilitated controlled clinical trials over the past two decades.
"His strategic insight and vast healthcare leadership experience support our continued growth efforts in the healthcare sector, especially our critical work surrounding the COVID-19 crisis as well, as planning for future pandemics with the creation of a national pandemic platform," said Jason Providakes, president and CEO of Mitre and two-time Wash100 Award recipient.
The company co-chairs the COVID-19 Healthcare Coalition with Mayo Clinic and operates a federally funded research and development center for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
