The 2020 Wash100 Popular Vote will draw to a close on June 1st.

With only ten days remaining, excitement is at an all-time high as the battle for first begins to move to the end. Guidehouse CEO Scott McIntyre has reclaimed first place after leapfrogging Gina Haspel, CIA director for the spot. The two industry leaders have exchanged first place four times this week.

Juliane Gallina, CIO of team CIA, has also made a swift move into second place in the 2020 Wash100 Popular Vote after recently climbing into fifth place last week. Her ascension to second place has also forced Director Haspel into third place. Vote Now to make your vote count now more than ever!

In addition, the rankings remain actively in play between now and June 1st. The remaining field of this year’s 2020 Wash100 Award winners are jockeying for position, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a four-time Wash100 Award recipient, Gen. Mark Milley. Gen. Milley climbed from ninth to sixth place to knock on the door of the top five just over a week before the end of the line.

She’s back! Last year’s Wash100 Rankings winner Tiffanny Gates, CEO of Novetta, has also re-emerged as a threat after climbing from fifteenth place to tenth. The chances for any of these executives to take first place hinges on your votes (you get 10) between now and June 1st.

The recent moves in the Wash100 Rankings have proven that your votes make a huge difference. Your vote could be the key reason your favorite wins the coveted first place position!

DLA Awards BAE $1.1B Contract Option to Extend US Military Weapon Systems Support

After the end of the initial 10-year fixed-price prospective redetermination and requirements contract that was awarded to BAE Systems by Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in March 2015, DLA has exercised an option in the contract to offer BAE a new five-year, $1.12 billion contract option to provide consumable and repairable components for various weapon systems.

The U.S. ArmyNavyMarine Corps and Air Force as well as federal civilian agencies can also use the contract. Work under the exercised option will occur through March 22, 2025. The company will perform tasks in Arizona, California, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire and Texas.

Booz Allen Wins $800M AI Task Order Under GSA Alliant 2 Contract; Lt. Gen. Jack Shanahan, Emily Murphy Quoted

The General Services Administration (GSA) and the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) have awarded Booz Allen Hamilton a potential five-year, $800 million task order to develop artificial intelligence-based technology platforms to support U.S. military operations.

“The Joint Warfighting mission initiative will provide the Joint Force with AI-enabled solutions vital to improving operational effectiveness in all domains,” said Lt. Gen. Jack Shanahan, director of JAIC and a 2020 Wash100 Award recipient.

“This contract will be an important element as the JAIC increasingly focuses on fielding AI-enabled capabilities that meet the needs of the warfighter and decision-makers at every level,” Shanahan added.

Booz Allen will work to help the DoD incorporate the technology into analysis and decision-making processes to prepare military personnel for data-based warfare operations. The company will also provide AI product development, data labeling, management and conditioning and transition services in support of the Joint Warfighter National Mission Initiative.

“This award represents an important step in the JAIC’s delivery of AI solutions across the Department of Defense,” said GSA administrator Emily Murphythree-time Wash100 Awardee. “I’m thrilled that the merger of TTS and FAS in 2017 continues to reap benefits for our customers.”

CACI Lands Potential $465M Army C5ISR R&D Task Order; John Mengucci Quoted

CACI International has received a potential five-year, $465 million task order to develop network security platforms for the U.S. Army’s command, control, computer, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C5ISR) center, the company reported on Tuesday.

CACI will support the Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s development of software-based approaches to advance the military service’s research and modernization programs. The company will also assist cross-functional teams to implement 5G, satellite and near-field communications systems.

John Mengucci, president and CEO of CACI and 2020 Wash100 Award winner, said the company’s mission professionals will support the Army’s C5ISR functions and help the service to bring critical technology platforms from the laboratory to the field.

Raytheon Vet Dave Wajsgras Joins Martin Marietta Board as Independent Director; Howard Nye Quoted

Martin Marietta Materials has elected David Wajsgras, president of Raytheon Technologies’ intelligence, information and services business (IIS) and six-time Wash100 Award recipient, to its Board of Directors as an independent director, the company reported on Monday.

“We are excited to welcome Dave to Martin Marietta’s Board of Directors. He is an experienced public company executive who is well-versed in financial and operating matters, technology transformation, and corporate governance,” said Howard Nye, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Martin Marietta, stated.

Wajsgras will fill the seat previously held by Stephen P. Zelnak, Jr., who reached the mandatory retirement age provided in Martin Marietta’s Bylaws. With Wajsgras’ appointment and Zelnak’s retirement, Martin Marietta’s ten-member Board of Directors consists of nine outside independent directors, six of whom have joined since 2016.

“Dave’s expertise will provide us with valuable insight on matters critical to our business,” added Nye.

SBA Official Maria Roat Takes Deputy Federal CIO Role

Maria Roat, a 2020 Wash100 Award winner, who has served as chief information officer of the Small Business Administration (SBA) since Oct. 2016, has been appointed as the federal government’s deputy CIO, the administration reported on Tuesday.

She will succeed Margie Graves, who left the Office of the Federal CIO in Dec. 2019. Roat will bring more than three decades of information technology experience to her new position.

At the SBA, she led the working capital fund to help the agency modernize IT operations and comply with the Modernizing Government Technology Act. She also served on the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) Technology Modernization Fund Board.

Roat previously served as chief technology officer at the Department of Transportation (DoT) and held a 10-year career at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in various positions such as chief information security officer, chief information officer and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program director.
