The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded $139M in contract modifications to four companies to convert some public facilities in New York into makeshift hospitals in support of the military’s emergency response efforts.
AECOM (NYSE: ACM) received a $58.3M modification to convert the State University of New York Old Westbury into an alternate care facility while NY Convention Center Operating Corp. secured $15.3M to retrofit the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center into a temporary care center, the Department of Defense said Friday.
USACE awarded $50.5M to Turner Construction and another $15M to Haugland Energy Group to perform retrofitting work at undisclosed facilities.
The agency will obligate the full amount of each modification from fiscal 2020 defense emergency response funds at the time of award.
All four contractors are scheduled to complete work later this month.
