Eliahu Niewood, former technical director for the Cross-cutting Urgent Innovation Cell at Mitre, has been named vice president of joint and cross-cutting capabilities at the McLean, Va.-based nonprofit corporation.
He will oversee collaboration efforts across Mitreâs national security portfolios to help shape multiagency and cross-functional initiatives, lead talent development activities and work with the nonprofitâs Center for Technology and National Security to develop concept of operations, table-top exercises and internal wargaming capabilities, Mitre said Monday.
Jason Providakes, president and CEO of Mitre and a two-time Wash100 award winner, said Niewood brings to the role his strategic vision and domain expertise.
"He's worked tirelessly to develop, implement, and track the impact of cross-cutting programs. Eli also built a new analysis team, expanding its work across national security to space control, and air and missile defense,â Providakes added.
Since joining Mitre in 2017, Niewood has led the corporationâs efforts to help the national security community adopt artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies to address critical mission problems and directed development work on a new command and control platform for the Department of Defense.
He previously served as technical adviser to the director of the U.S. Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, head of the engineering division at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory and chair of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board.
