Steven Schulze has been promoted to president of Washington, D.C.-based professional services contractor Patrona Corp., the company announced on Monday.
The three-decade systems engineering veteran will oversee the growth and expansion of the company’s portfolio as well as the delivery of program management, engineering and administrative services to the Navy.
Before he joined Patrona, Schulze worked with the Naval Sea Systems Command from March 2006 to September 2019 in a variety of leadership roles, including executive director of the naval systems engineering directorate (SEA05B); executive director of undersea warfare directorate (SEA 07); and assistant deputy commander for maintenance, modernization, environment and safety.
As executive director of SEA05B, Schulze was responsible for leadership, management and supervision of a workforce of over 600 engineers and scientists performing interdisciplinary systems engineering and research in support of development, design, construction and fabrication, test and evaluation, operations, and life cycle support of ships, submarines and naval systems.
He served as executive director of SEA 07 from August 2007 to December 2015 and supervised senior-level management of all matters regarding in-service nuclear submarines, deep submergence and ocean engineering assets, related shore infrastructure activities, and assigned research and development initiatives.
From March 2006 to August 2007, Schulze served as assistant deputy commander where he was responsible for the policy, processes and oversight of basic readiness programs in ship maintenance and modernization and the integration of environmental and safety compliance and stewardship into all NAVSEA and affiliated program executive office (PEO) products and processes.
Schulze received 2019 Distinguished Civilian recognition from the Naval Submarine League and is a 2020 recipient of a “Meritorious Executive” Presidential Rank Award for his service as a federal executive.
