TYSONS CORNER, VA, January 27, 2020 — Rick Ambrose, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin’s (NYSE: LMT) space segment and a 2020 Wash100 winner, has said the U.S. has capability to take astronauts back to the moon, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.
“We have to go fast, but we’re going to have to reuse a lot of the systems that we have today,” he told Yahoo Finance in an interview aired Tuesday.
Lockheed is helping NASA build an Orion capsule that will be used for the space agency’s crewed lunar mission under the Artemis program.
Ambrose added that Blue Origin teamed with Lockheed, Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Draper to build a human landing system to support NASA’s goal of returning to the lunar surface by 2024.
