Boeing (NYSE: BA) has responded to the German procurement authority’s invitation to tender for the country’s heavy lift helicopter program.
The company said Tuesday it offered its H-47 Chinook multimission aircraft for the Schwerer Transporthubschrauber helicopter program of Germany’s Federal Office of Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support of the Bundeswehr.
The German government plans to award in 2021 a contract to procure 44 to 60 heavy-lift helicopters as well as training and sustainment support services.
“We are committed to having the sustainment and training as well as parts of the production done in Germany,” said Michael Haidinger, president of Boeing’s German arm. “We will continue to build on and expand our Germany Industry Team for the H-47 Chinook Schwerer Transporthubschrauber competition. In addition, we are committed to bringing high end engineering and production opportunities from across the Boeing enterprise to German industry.”
