The Department of Energy will award $128M in funds through its office of energy efficiency and renewable energy to support 75 research projects that seek to advance the development of solar technologies.
DOE said Wednesday 21 of the projects will get $23.6M in funds to conduct research on photovoltaics, while 13 initiatives will receive $30M to perform research on concentrating solar thermal power.
The agency will earmark $17.6M for 19 research programs that aim to reduce costs related with a solar systems non-hardware components and another $6.8M for seven projects that pursue innovations in solar manufacturing.
Fifteen projects will get approximately $50M in total funds from DOE to conduct research on solar-related systems integration technologies.
