FedTech has received a contract from the Department of Veterans Affairs to host workshops and online training sessions intended to help some VA employees to innovate and be creative.
The startup organization will facilitate an innovation boot camp from Nov. 19 to 21 in Washington, D.C., for approximately 150 personnel from sponsored medical centers under the Veterans Health Administration’s Innovators Networks program, VA said Wednesday.
VA also asked FedTech to provide web-based instruction on skills development and innovation testing that may transform the department’s approach to care and service delivery.
Schooling like this is essential to ensuring growth and advancement of VAs innovation culture and fostering continuous learning while we work to deliver creative solutions that can positively impact Veteran lives, said Robert Wilkie, secretary of VA and a 2019 Wash100 awardee.
The department expect training modules to cover strategies for participating employees to turn ideas into a business model canvas or a potential product, establish “sprint” milestones and create return on investment models, among other topics.
A group of FedTech business professionals will work with VHA’s “employee innovators” as part of the training, which runs for one year.
FedTech runs a private venture program backed by government and corporate organizations. The startup studio aims to bring federally sponsored technology to the commercial market.
