Nammo to Establish Defense Tech Manufacturing Firm in US

Norway-based defense and aerospace contractor Nammo has moved to consolidate multiple business units of its current U.S. organization into a new company that aims to manufacture propulsion systems and munitions for government customers.

Nammo Defense Systems will be headquartered in Mesa, Ariz., and aims to purchase all smaller assets from an existing holding company by January, the company said Wednesday.

Gary Goodwin, former president of the Nammo Pocal business in Scranton, Pa., will lead the new manufacturing firm.

The company noted it will spend $20M to modernize Arizona-based facilities, which will house development operations for long-range artillery components designed to support U.S. Army missions and fire at a range of more than 43.5 miles. The modernization efforts are scheduled conclude by 2021.

Nammo CEO Morten Brandtzaeg said the consolidation seeks to streamline delivery operations, including efforts to provide long-range precision fires to Army customers.
