Christopher Scolese, formerly director at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, has taken the oath to lead the National Reconnaissance Office. In his new role, Scolese will oversee, guide and direct all aspects of NRO and perform tasks from the director of national intelligence and the secretary of DoD.
“I am looking forward to fulfilling the great responsibility ahead of me and helping the NRO accomplish its mission to provide innovative overhead intelligence systems that help keep our nation safe and secure, said Scolese.
Major Contract Awards of the Week
The Unisys Corporation announced on Tuesday that the company secured a series of contract awards, during the second quarter of 2019, with clients in cloud solutions, healthcare and IT support.
“This series of contract wins highlights the outcome-driven value Unisys is providing to U.S.-based organizations through a combination of our innovative solutions and domain expertise we bring to the table across our key industry sectors,” said Eric Hutto, senior vice president and president, Unisys Enterprise Solutions.
Unisys will provide Data-as-a-Service in the public AWS cloud, increase the level of IT service desk support to hospitals in one of its largest regions in the United States and assistance for employees with direct, seamless and secure access to the tools and information they need to enable greater productivity, collaboration and efficiency for their employees around the globe.
In addition, TriWest Healthcare Alliance has received a potential $25.9B contract from the Department of Veterans Affairs to oversee VAs network of health care providers in the fourth region. TriWest will manage and track quality outcomes; pay and process claims to improve health care experiences for veterans; provide customer service; and use data and performance metrics to improve services.
POC Hosts Security Vetting Process Modernization Update
On Wednesday, Potomac Officers Club hosted the Security Vetting Process Modernization Update featuring GovCon leaders from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Northrop Grumman, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security.
Monte Hawkins of CBP gave an informative keynote address about the progress being made in data sharing across the government and the National Vetting Centers role in that progress. The forum also featured an expert panel with Casie Antalis and Eric Peters of CBP, Sam Robinson of the FBI and Lori Vislocky of DHS. Gator Harvey of Northrop Grumman acted as the moderator.
Potomac Officers Club will host the 4th Annual Army Forum on October 2nd at the 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, Va. Thus far, Dr. Bruce Jette of the U.S. Army will be featured as a keynote speaker for the forum. Over the coming weeks, Potomac Officers Club will announce the panelists for another expert panel to discuss the Armys current initiatives and future plans.
