TYSONS CORNER, VA, June 28, 2019 ” Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) will work with the Department of Defense to test an artificial intelligence tool that the company developed with the U.S. Air Force to predict maintenance and repair needs in support of the service branch’s CV-22 Osprey tiltrotor fleet, ExecutiveBiz reported June 20.

FlightGlobal reported June 19 that Raytheon and the Air Force will perform tests on the AI platform’s capability to facilitate predictive maintenance of the Bell-Boeing aircraft, in an effort to establish the operational readiness of the technology by 2020.

Todd Probert, vice president of Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business, said the effort seeks to deliver actionable insights from sensor data collected by the AI tool in order to inform aircraft maintainers in their work and support the military mission to gain advantage in the battlefield.
