Big News for John Vollmer and AECOM
On Monday, AECOM™s board of directors approved a plan to separate its management services group as a new publicly traded company to serve AECOM™s national government clients. The spinoff should be completed in the second half of its 2020 fiscal year and John Vollmer, the company™s president of management services and 2019 Wash100 Award recipient, will lead the spinoff along with the current management team.

Shawn Black, the chief operating officer of Cobham™s Advanced Electronic Solutions sector in the U.S. was appointed the president of the sector beginning on July 1st. Black has served as COO since November 2018 and previously spent 16 years at Leonardo DRS in vice president and managerial positions.
In addition, Mike Bowser, senior vice president of the Department of Defense (DoD) and federal civilian programs at By Light Professional IT Services, has been promoted to chief operating officer of the company. By Light also hired Mike Hatcher, a three-decade veteran in the defense, security and intelligence markets, as chief revenue officer.
Elsewhere, the Pentagon announced its intention on Monday to implement new cybersecurity standards for government contractors by January 2020. DoD will work with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute to develop the proposed standards “ Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification.
Also, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded a $49 million IDIQ contract vehicle to KPMG, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, for intelligent automation and artificial intelligence (IAAI) products and services.
