Each contractor-owned or contractor-leased prison will accommodate criminal aliens with ordinarily 90 months or less remaining to serve on their sentences, BOP said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Wednesday.
The bureau awarded $586.9M to Texas’ Reeves County, $399.9M to Management & Training and $398.2M to GEO Group. Each firm-fixed-price contract will run for 10 years if all options are exercised.
BOP requires the correctional institutions to include special housing units that will each offer an additional 100 beds. The facilities will begin to accept inmates upon the release of a Notice to Proceed from the bureau.
The awardees shall develop plans, policies and procedures that adhere to the American Correctional Association Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions.
