The modification would initiate an an undefinitized contract action for the first two lots of long lead items for the B61-12 Life Extension Program and brings the contract’s cumulative value to $131.9M, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Work will take place in Saint Charles, Mo., through Aug. 31, 2020.
The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center is the contracting activity and the military service will obligate $29.2M at the time of award.
The National Nuclear Security Administration aims to extend the service life of the B61 nuclear gravity bomb by at least 20 years, as well as increase the security, performance and safety of the weapon system.
