The company said Tuesday it will deliver an initial batch of chassis systems to the Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center in the spring.
JMTC is located at Rock Island Arsenal and will facilitate the fabrication and final assembly of ambulance shelters.
The Army initially awarded the company a $562M contract last year to build M997A3 ambulances for the service branch.
Our commitment to the warfighters safety and success in the battlefield drives the continuous improvement in our vehicle systems, said Chris Vanslager, executive vice president of AM General’s defense segment.
The service branch is scheduled to receive the first batch within the second quarter of this year.
