Robert Smith, president of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) Jet Aviation subsidiary, has been named executive vice president of the companys marine systems segment in a move that will take effect on July 1.
He will succeed the retiring John Casey, a shipbuilding industry veteran and former president of General Dynamics Electric Boat, the company said Friday.
General Dynamics selected David Paddock, a senior VP and general manager of U.S. aircraft services at Jet Aviation, to replace Smith as head of its wholly owned aviation subsidiary.
Rob Smiths expertise in Navy submarine and surface ship programs will serve us well as we continue to grow our shipbuilding business, said Phebe Novakovic, chairman and CEO of General Dynamics and a 2019 Wash100 winner.
Smith became president of Jet Aviation in 2014 after serving as chief financial officer. He is also a former VP and CFO of General Dynamics NASSCO subsidiary.
