TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 14, 2019 Cameron Chehreh, chief technology officer for the federal sector at Dell EMC, outlined the way edge computing can work to help government agencies utilize and manage data and devices at the network edge in a single virtual enterprise, ExecutiveBiz reported March 4.
FedTech Magazine reported Feb. 28 that Chehreh said edge computing delivers a “compute capacity closer to the data,” which he says generates better insights, even as the government increasingly adopts mobile and cloud platforms to support remote network users.
Chehreh noted that the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps, Special Forces, Federal Emergency Management Agency and Department of Agriculture are using edge computing and that the approach will continue to perpetuate amid the emergence of smart devices with greater compute and storage requirements.
