Northrop Secures $322M Navy Contract to Develop Extended-Range Anti-Radiation Missile System


Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) received a $322.5M engineering and manufacturing development contract for an extended-range configuration of a U.S. Navy missile system.

The company’s innovation systems sector will design, test and integrate a new solid rocket motor technology for the AGM-88G Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile – Extended Range, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

AARGM-ER is designed to integrate with the F/A-18E/F, EA-18G and F-35A/C aircraft.

Contract work for the cost-plus-incentive-fee contract will be performed in Northridge and Ridgecrest, Calif., through December 2023. The Navy budgeted $55M at the time of the award from its fiscal 2019 research, development, test and evaluation funds.

Orbital ATK, which now operates as Northrop’s fourth business segment, helped develop the missile variant ahead of the manufacturing phase.
