Shamlan Siddiqi, chief technology officer of NTT DATAs public sector business, has offered five suggestions for organizations to strengthen their cybersecurity posture following the partial government shutdown.
The shutdown ended on Feb. 15 after President Donald Trump signed into law an appropriations package that would fund the rest of the government through the end of September.
Siddiqi said agencies can avoid breaches by having cyber processes and procedures in place to mitigate risks and embrace innovation to ensure data security and facilitate threat detection and monitoring.
Organizations should empower chief information security officers and chief data officers as business and mission leaders, he added.
He noted that agencies should view on-premise and cloud security as a complete lifecycle rather in silos and create a talent pool of resource across cloud, artificial intelligence, automation, internet of things, DevSecOps and other technology areas.
