CMS Selects Four Firms for Potential $1.5B Healthcare Service Review IDIQ

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has awarded four companies spots on a potential $1.5B contract to support CMS’ statutory review functions.

Each contractor will receive a minimum guarantee of $1K under the multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, CMS said Thursday in a FedBizOpps award notice.

The awardees are:

  • Avar Consulting
  • Livanta
  • Ohio Kepro
  • Provider Resources

Work includes care quality and beneficiary complaint reviews, service appeal termination and discharge, medical necessity reviews for the Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization, according to a FedBizOpps summary.

Contractors will also help CMS align Medicare services with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, which requires hospitals to treat all emergency-level patients regardless of their financial status.
