Army Contracting Command received two bids for the Improved Turbine Engine Program via the internet and obligated $130M in fiscal 2019 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The Army seeks to improve the shaft horsepower, fuel efficiency and maintainability of aircraft engines through the ITEP program, according to a FedBizOpps summary.
GE Aviation will initially develop 10 integration type engines with 3K shaft horsepower under the cost-plus-incentive-fee portion of the contract.
The contract includes firm-fixed-price options for the provision of technical data rights and up to 20 additional integration engines.
