The lab said Tuesday the New Horizons mission has flown past Ultima Thule, which NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine noted is the “most distant object ever visited by a spacecraft,” and has transmitted imagery and science data to the team’s mission operations center for analysis.
Johns Hopkins APL, which operates the spacecraft and manages the mission, also works with the Southwest Research Institute on the New Horizons program.
