IBM-Backed Survey Cites Federal IT Investment Shift to Hybrid Cloud; Andras Szakal Quoted

Andras Szakal

TYSONS CORNER, VA, November 19, 2018 ” An IBM-backed (NYSE: IBM) study has found that a majority of federal information technology executives foresee a shift in IT investments over the next two years, with an increasing number anticipating spending on cloud technology, ExecutiveBiz reported Oct. 16.

Fedscoop reported Oct. 15 that the survey of 169 federal program management and IT executives, underwritten by IBM, indicates a move away from government-run, on-site data centers toward hybrid or multicloud environments.

“The ability to use containers and [artificial intelligence] is ultimately where all those agencies want to go,” said Andras Szakal, vice president and chief technology officer of IBM’s U.S. federal business, noting that other agencies not yet fully migrating to cloud are still incorporating those technologies into their data centers.
