Consulting firm McAleese & Associates has released a new report listing several defense programs under the watchlist of Kathy Warden, president and chief operating officer of Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC).
Jim McAleese, founder and principal at McAleese & Associates, said those include the U.S. Air Forces Ground Based Strategic Deterrent competition, Overhead Persistent Infrared Geosynchronous, U.S. Navy‘s Next-Gen Jammer Low-band and restricted space programs.
Many of the things that we are pursuing are awards in the 2020 timeframe¦For the OPIR programs, we have both the GEO payload, as well as the OPIR Polar satellite program, Warden, a three-time Wash100 recipient, said during the company’s third-quarter earnings call on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
Also included in Wardens watchlist are the OPIR Block 1 competition in 2022, the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System and Common Infrared Countermeasures program of the U.S. Army as well as the U.S. Marine Corps Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar initiative.
Warden, who will succeed Wes Bush as Northrop CEO in January, said the company expects revenue-synergies to become evident in the coming year and plans to pursue work in hypersonics, precision munitions and space.
Northrop saw its sales rise 23 percent to $8.1B in Q3 2018, according to the McAleese report.
The company recorded a 29 percent increase in Q3 2018 segment operating income to $979M and $1.2B in corporate operating income, up 41 percent from the prior year period.
Northrops Q3 earnings per share rose 78 percent to $6.54 per share, while its backlog reached $52.6B in the previous quarter.
