Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured a $139.8 million order from the U.S. Army‘s Special Operations Aviation Command for four modernized MH-47G Chinook helicopters.

The Army will add Chinooks with Block II configuration to the service branch’s current fleet of 69 MH-47G units, Boeing said Wednesday.

The company expects production work to continue through the late 2020s.

Pat Donnelly, director of H-47 domestic and foreign military sale programs at Boeing, said that Block II upgrades are meant to increase the performance and extend the service life of the helicopter.

The company is also integrating the latest configuration into the service branch’s CH-47F variant.
