American Ordnance and General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) ordnance and tactical systems subsidiary have won positions on a five-year, $511.2 million contract to provide 60mm, 81mm and 120mm mortar propelling charges to the U.S. Army.
Both contractors will vie for task orders under the firm-fixed-price contract and will perform work through May 24, 2023, the Defense Department said Friday.
The Army Contracting Command received three bids for the procurement effort via the internet.
American Ordnance is a subsidiary of Day & Zimmerman and uses facilities at the Milan and Iowa Army Ammunition Plants to produce ammunition and explosives designed to address military load, assemble and pack requirements.
General Dynamics OTS offers armaments, ammunition, composite structures, tactical vehicles, explosives, motion control, propellants, protection systems and demilitarization and explosive waste disposal services.
