Boeing to Adopt ‘Commercial Timeline’ to Accelerate WGS 11 & 12 Production


TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 20, 2018 ” Boeing (NYSE: BA) is working to accelerate its effort to build the 11th and 12th Wideband Global Satcom satellites using the $600 million that Congress allotted for the program in the 2018 Defense Department budget, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.

Space News reported Wednesday that Rico Attanasio, director of defense and civil navigation and communications programs at Boeing, indicated during an interview that the company will utilize commercial buses and manufacturing processes to produce WGS 11 and WGS 12 in a faster, “commercial” timeline.
