TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 5, 2018 ” The Energy Department intends to award a one-year contract extension to a joint venture of AECOM (NYSE: ACM) and SNC-Lavalin‘s Atkins business unit for the treatment and disposal of nuclear waste at the department’s Hanford site, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.
The Tri-City Herald reported Tuesday a DOE notice on FedBizOpps stated the contract will extend the 10-year, $7.1 billion tank farm contract awarded to Washington River Protection Solutions that is set to expire in six months.
Under the new contract, the JV will continue to help DOE store, retrieve and treat tank waste; store and dispose of treated waste; as well as close the tank farm waste management areas in efforts to preserve the Columbia River.
